Obituary of William Vanosdale

William David "Bill" Vanosdale, age 85 of Knoxville and Dandridge, Tennessee died on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Bill graduated from Karns High School in 1950 and was a member of the baseball and basketball team. He served proudly in the Air Force during the Korean War 51-55 and also served in the Air Force Reserves and the East Tennessee Honor Guard. Bill was a 32 degree Master Mason and member of the Brazelton Lodge #190 in Dandridge. He was raised a Master Mason with over 60 years of service. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dandridge and Central Baptist Church in Bearden in Knoxville, where he was a deacon for 6 years and sang in the choir. He was retired from Bell South after 40 years of service. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, David Abbey Vanosdale and Sadie Lorena "Dollie" Pershing; and his sister Margaret Ann Jones. He is survived by his son, Scott Vanosdale; daughter and son-in-law Lisa Vanosdale and James Woody; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - .3:00 pm on Saturday, August 12 in the Fellowship Hall at Central Baptist Church in Bearden. Family and friends will meet at Edgewood Cemetery Saturday August 12, at 3:30 pm for the graveside service with full military honors provided by the East TN Honor Guard.
